One of A Kind Kid
By Your Guy @ EYSeptember 27, 2007
Hi, Kim! Tell us about One of a Kind Kid!
Kim Michaux:
We started One of a Kind Kid in Dec. 1999 from our home. We now operate 5 yahoo stores from our 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Richmond, VA. Our other stores include SnipsnSnails.com, MistletoenHolly.com and OldWorldNutcrackers.com – we have a new store opening in October of this year, too.
Your Guy @ EY:
How'd you find your way over to EYStudios?
Kim:
I actually remember Eric Yonge from the old days! But he was recommended for this redesign by a mutual friend, Don Cole, as well as several other Yahoo store programmers. After talking to Eric on the phone and via email, I knew he was the right guy for the job – he saw exactly what we wanted to do with the site.
Your Guy @ EY:
What made you want to re-design One of a Kind Kid?
Kim:
One of a Kind Kid has had the same look for 3 or 4 years now – so it was time. Also our product lines have expanded a lot over the years and we no longer sell just children’s clothing- I hope to emphasize the variety of the baby & children’s products One of a Kind Kid offers with the redesign.
Your Guy @ EY:
What all did you have in mind for the new design?
Kim:
We were after a total redesign with a very clean upscale look that showcases the variety of baby and children’s products we offer.
Your Guy @ EY:
Now, Eric’s still working on the design for you… How’s everything going up ‘til this point?
Kim:
Great! Eric is super easy to work with – he truly gets the image and branding we are trying to convey with our store and product offerings and what we want from our new look. We are in the process of designing the item pages right now – they look amazing!
Your Guy @ EY:
What advice do you have for clients just starting out on their re-design?
Kim:
Ask around for recommendations - ask other Yahoo store owners and Yahoo programmers who they recommend – We did and Eric’s name came up over and over again as a really great designer.
Your Guy @ EY:
Thanks for your time, Kim!
